Govan A. Martin III Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Employee Programs

HARRISBURG, PA, January 26, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Corporal Govan Martin III, Manager of the Member Assistance Program for the Pennsylvania State Police, has been recognized as a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in employee assistance programs.
As manager for the Pennsylvania State Police's Member Assistance Program, Mr. Martin utilizes his expertise in law enforcement employee assistance programs to oversee 95 peers and five full-time regional coordinators. He has acquired over $200,000 in federal grant monies to enhance the program. He is also responsible for creating the Law Enforcement Employee Assistance Program Conference for all law enforcement agencies across the country. Inspired by his supportive father, who was also a Pennsylvania State Trooper, Mr. Martin attributes his success to his dedication and commitment to changing lives.
Mr. Martin took courses at Harrisburg Area Community College. He is a Certified Question, Persuade, Refer Instructor, and a member of both the Keystone Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professional Association and the national Employee Assistance Professionals Association. He is also active with the steering committee for the Pennsylvania Adult/Older Adult Suicide Prevention Coalition, sits on the planning committee for the annual Pennsylvania Suicide Prevention Conference, and is an instructor in both Group Crisis Intervention and Individual Crisis and Peer Support for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. In addition, Mr. Martin serves the Pennsylvania Homeland Security office as the chairman of the committee charged with establishing protocols regarding death notifications in the aftermath of a terrorist attack. Looking ahead, Mr. Martin intends to continue improving the Pennsylvania State Police Member Assistance Program. He also plans to explore consulting opportunities.
