SARASOTA, FL, December 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thomas F. Icard, Jr., a shareholder at the law firm Icard, Merrill, Cullis, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg, PA., was a speaker at a recent continuing education seminar concerning Florida's construction lien laws.
The event was held at the Hyatt Place Sarasota/Bradenton Airport and hosted by Lorman Educational Services of Milwaukee, Wis. Mr. Icard, who was one of three speakers at the seminar, shared his expertise regarding statutory prompt payment laws as applied to construction projects in both the private and public sectors. He also addressed ethical, evidentiary and related issues that arise in the trial of lien and bond claims. The program was designed for lawyers, contractors, engineers, architects and other construction industry professionals, including credit managers, controllers and project managers.
Tom Icard is a Diplomate of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators and a by-invitation member of the Florida Circuit-Civil Mediator Society and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. Mr. Icard began his practice in Tampa in 1973 after graduating from the Florida State University College of Law. He joined Icard Merrill as a shareholder in 1995 and focuses his practice on construction-related matters, from preparation and review of contract documents to claims negotiation and multiparty litigation. He is a former member of the Executive Council of the Trial Lawyer Section of The Florida Bar and a former Chair of the Forum on the Construction Industry of the American Bar Association.
